Control Runner 4.0

The first thing I liked about the MomSoft-developed application Control Runner was that it did not take long to get the application off the web and onto my computer. The download weighs in at 5.5MB, which isn’t very much. I always like it when I don’t have to wait a long time for a download to complete.

The second thing I liked about the application was that installing it only took a moment. The whole installation process is incredibly straightforward; just launch the executable you downloaded, go though the instructions resented by the setup wizard, and you are done before you know it. I like the setup wizard’s good looks and I liked that I wasn’t offered any additional “goodies” (like toolbars, or other crapware).

It must be mentioned here that Control Runner provides support for numerous Windows versions. At the time of writing this and according to the developer, Control Runner provides support for the following versions of the Microsoft-developed operating system: Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000, XP, 2003, Vista and Windows 7.

Once Control Runner was up and running I liked that it was quite easy to use the application. I will go as far as to say that Control Runner is so easy to use that not even the novice user will have any problems.

I especially liked the functionality this MomSoft-developed application provides. What is Control Runner and what can it do? Here’s the answer: Control Runner is an application launcher; from the Control Runner icon in the System Tray you can access your favorite websites, launch an application, or access a file. You can even access Windows utilities. By using Control Runner you can do away with desktop icons that clutter your desktop; and you can forget about launching apps from the Start menu as you can do it conveniently and rapidly from Control Runner.

Control Runner also provides useful information about your system, things like CPU load, how much free RAM you have, or how much free space you have on a partition. From Control Runner’s interface you can also hide/unhide desktop icons and hide/unhide running programs.

Please note that Control Runner is not freeware; it is only free to try. You can put the program through its paces for a lengthy trial period of 45 days (you will get registration reminders during the last 15 days). Once the trial version expires, Control Runner will be locked down; this means you will be able to use it normally, but you won't be able to add or modify program buttons or change what they do. All restrictions are lifted once you purchase a license.
